Fibromyalgia FAQ’s

Q: I have already seen a chiropractor and it didn’t help, why should I see you ?

            I would say 50% of my fibromyalgia patients have seen other chiropractors at some point in the past.  If you are seeing one now and you like the results, then by all means stay put.  The technique he/she is using is right for you.
However, if you did not get better, than most likely there are some problems in your spine that need to be addressed in a different way.
The techniques I use are tailored to the needs of fibromyalgia patients.  The patients say the treatment is different than anything else they have ever experienced.  If you come in for the consultation, we can discuss your situation and what can be done for you.

Q: I am kind of frail, is the treatment painful ?

No.  Sometimes it can be uncomfortable but not painful.  The oldest fibromyalgia patient I have treated is 96 years old.  I have many others in their seventies and eighties.  Some even have osteoporosis.  The treatment is safe to use on all of them.

Q: I have had spinal surgery, can I still be treated ?

            The best thing to do, if you have had spinal surgery is to get a hold of any x-rays or MRI’s you have had since your surgery and bring them with you to the consultation.  Then, I can tell you what I can do for you.  Some people with spinal fusions, I can’t treat.  Almost all laminectomy patients can be treated.  Basically, I need to see what was done, and the only way for me to do that is to see films.
If you don’t have access to your films, come in for the consultation anyway and we can talk about your situation.  I can get a good idea what is going on and then send you for imaging if I think I might be able to help.

Q:  I’ve heard about all kinds of treatments for fibromyalgia on the internet and they all sound like scams, is this one of those ?

            No.  It is for real.  I never intended to treat fibromyalgia, it just happened that I have great success treating it.  I saw many people were suffering from it and not getting help.  So, I learned as much about it as I could.  The treatments I use are based on the research of the National Fibromyalgia Research Association,  Dr.Alf Breig- a Swedish neurosurgeon, Dr. Greg Fors- a chronic pain specialist and various other leaders in the field.
Most of the things I have seen on the internet are written by people who aren’t licensed physicians of any sort.  Some of it is good, some of it is terrible.  The scams usually involve some sort of concoction that promises to cure everything.  For the most part, these people aren’t licensed physicians of any sort and have never been responsible for the treatment of anyone.  So, they are free to come up with any wild theory they want.
I am a doctor of chiropractic, licensed by the state.  That means, I have to treat people in an ethical and responsible manner or the state comes in and shuts me down.  Its that simple.
The report you just read may sound a little over the top, but it is the true experience of many of my fibromyalgia patients.  I’ve found that many fibromyalgia sufferers have just plain given up, and I want to encourage you to keep trying.

Q: Does insurance pay for this type of treatment ?

Yes.

Q: Do you take Medicare or Medicaid ?

            We take Medicare, but not Medicaid.  You can call my office, if you have any questions about coverage.

Q: Do you take HMO’s ?

            The real question is, does your HMO take us ?  We take part in all the major Blue Cross Plans and Humana.  For all the other plans, check your provider book or call my office and they can assist you.

Q: What if I don’t have any Insurance ?

            We can try to make a payment plan that is affordable for you.  We take Visa and Mastercard which may help.  When you consider how much people spend on worthless medications and dead-end doctor’s appointments, I think we are the best deal in town, by far !
